It’s common knowledge that physical activity is key to a healthy and happy lifestyle. However, with busy daily life – commuting, work, family, socialising and everything else in between – it can often be hard for people to find the time to exercise.

Adapting new habits and small changes into your daily routine can contribute to better physical health and a more positive mindset. Follow our top 4 tips below to find out how you can easily fit more physical activity into your day.

  1. Walk more

With our reliance on cars and public transport, we can often overlook the fact that walking is a brilliant way to incorporate a little bit of exercise into our schedule. Whether it’s walking instead of driving to the shop, taking the stairs instead of the lift in work, or going for a stroll around the park on your lunch break, walking will definitely help you to feel more active and energised throughout the day.

  1. Multi-task

Small exercises can often be done while you’re busy with something else, such as working or reading. For example, stretching while sat in your office chair, squatting while picking something up, hopping while watching TV or walking around while reading your favourite book; the list is endless. Multi-tasking exercises with your daily activities will also help you to establish a healthier, more movement focused mindset.

  1. Start the day right

Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, starting your day with a little bit of exercise will help to wake you up and energise you in preparation for the day ahead. We’re not talking about a 12-mile run here (unless that’s your thing, of course), but instead, just a short 10-15 minutes of light movement. Set your alarm a touch earlier than you normally would and incorporate some stretching, walking, jumping, or whatever else you fancy into your morning routine. You’ll be thankful for it later!

  1. Join an exercise class

Joining an exercise class is a great way to get your body moving, whilst working out as a group and socialising with other people. It can sometimes be hard to find the motivation to exercise on your own after a long day at work, but if you’ve already signed up for a class, you’ll be more inclined to go. Why not combine physical and mental stimulation, by trying out one of our popular yoga and meditation classes?

We can all feel overwhelmed with work and responsibilities from time to time, but adopting a positive, ‘move more’ outlook will help you to incorporate more physical activity into your daily routine. By initially taking small steps and building up both the duration and intensity of your exercises over time, you’ll be sure to stick with your new active lifestyle and reap the copious rewards.
